Adults can come for individual counselling for a variety of reasons. Examples include feeling anger, anxious or depressed, feeling confused or stressed over a relationship, going through a transition, the loss of a loved one, lacking direction in one's life, an addiction or habit that is interfering and so on. You can seek a consultation whenever you want a new direction and aren't sure how to initiate change in your life.

Depressed ManTeens sometimes request individual counselling, however more often, their parents bring them to counselling because of problems with behavior at home, school or with friends. Teens are vulnerable to feelings of anxiety and depression because of the pressures on them and their stage of development. They often want the privacy of individual counselling as this helps them to feel more independent. At the same time, involving teens in family counselling is recommended when rules and limits need to be negotiated or when communication with the family has broken down.

Girl and Teddy BearChildren 12 years and under can also benefit from individual counselling combined with family counselling. Children's concerns can range from school difficulties, peer relationships, behavior problems, anxiety and depression, adjustment to separation and divorce as well as many other issues. If your child's behavior has changed in a negative way or they seem to be feeling depressed or anxious, a consultation will help parents to understand their child's behavior and how to help them.
